Since Blogger decided to cease providing a FTP publish service, I was in need of moving away from that blogging platform. I’ve been with them since 2004, so it was a bit of a shame. Nevertheless I decided to move to Wordpress.
Two actions were needed:
- Choose a theme
- Import the blog
I have still not decided on a theme as yet, but this will do for now. The import, was a real PITA!
For those of you contemplating the import, here is how you can achieve it:
- Create a free blog on wordpress.com
- From there, import your blogspot.com posts
- You will now have blogs on blogger and wordpress
- If you have your own hosted wordpress, you can now export the blogs in XML format from wordpress.com
- Import the XML into your hosted wordpress
That entire process took 2 hours. Could have been easier, but it will do for now.
